Perfectionism in games 🙂

Not long ago I had a desire to write something here, but I didn’t know the topic. Came up with it. And since my last post about music (not yet divided then) someone suggested duplicating it 500 times and launching a DoS attack, then this post will be much smaller and more accurate 🙂 I hope, at least)

To begin with — what is Perfectionism for me personally: this is the desire for ideal, the desire to bring something to the best result with minimal or complete absence of errors in a given action.

So, I’ll say right away — I’m not one of those who collect all the goodies in all the games in order to finish the game to 100%, get all the achievements or knock the game to gold or platinum. Rare achievements attract me so much that I sit and try to knock it out. I’m not a fan of collecting everything (two hundred, three hundred… thousand. ) objects in games, if I see something, I’ll take it and collect it, but specifically look for or rummage through the levels in search of artifacts in Uncharted or packages in GTA Vice City — no, thank you.
My Perfectionism is rather expressed in the fact that when the game gives you the choice to go right or left, it makes you think long and painfully: where to go then? I want to go there and there. And if this is a branch, and this is the right path? And if it’s the other way around? In general, if there really is a branch, then it ends in one of two options:

1. I go left, it turns out to be a dead end (with something lying there), then I go back, turn right and move on; 2. I turn right, I understand that this is the right road, I TURN TURN and go look at the DEAD END. After all, sometimes there is something interesting there besides cartridges or first aid kits, or something else.
But in some games, such a decision directly affects the plot, so when there is a desire, I replay the moment, and when not, I watch a different ending on YouTube (if it was in the end, of course). So I went through and watched each of the endings in GTA IV And GTA V (I replayed the last ending 6-7 times, experimented with the choice, so to speak), and I watched the other two endings in Battlefield 4 on YouTube (I had to find out "What would happen?", but I didn’t want to replay the whole level because of this).

But in some games this same Perfectionism sets me some kind of goal, and sometimes this goal corresponds to the requirements of the game about one hundred percent completion, and sometimes it goes in a completely different direction from this. Here I will list several such goals and talk about what came out of it (or is coming out o_O). I’ll tell you more precisely about what I remember — perhaps there were much more such goals)

P.S. Most of the games will be accompanied by videos — they are all mine, filmed by me and posted on YouTube at the time of writing this post (some were even filmed today), with the exception of one, which is also mine, but old. The screenshots, with the exception of a couple of pieces, are not mine, found on Google by the name of the game)

I’ll probably start with "Hitman Absolution".

When she came out, I walked through her little by little, slowly, slowly. I spent 2-3 months, maybe more (I complete some games for a long time, abandon them for a while and come back whenever I want). Passed on medium, turning off instinct (few people in the reviews say that instinct on any difficulty can be almost completely turned off in the settings), not always quiet — it got mixed up. But I really liked the game, so I was almost sure that someday I would want to play it again. And now, this moment has come: without thinking twice, I chose the “Legend” difficulty level (the most difficult, if anyone doesn’t know) and decided to go through everything quietly, unnoticed, without unnecessary casualties (with the exception, probably, of the mission in the Monastery, where I think to act quietly but aggressively… Well, and the final mission: I don’t know if it’s possible to go there quietly. Well, maybe a couple or three more places where I’ll get stuck or get bored, anything can happen). In general, I began to act according to such tactics from the very beginning: the most I did was knock them out, and did not even kill those four who were required to practice shooting in instinct mode (always carry a brick with you 😀). But the statistics showed one extra neutralization. It’s a small thing, but it’s a shame. But for now I moved on (I think I’ll try again someday), besides, I don’t know who exactly was neutralized: it was either the gardener whom I knocked out — but they considered him t.To. a civilian, or a security guard, whom he knocked out and threw… into the fountain… Maybe he choked there? 😀
In general, time passed, I moved on — and the time came for probably the most famous section of the new Hitman — the Library. At exhibitions they showed an aggressive method of passing, but it didn’t quite suit me. So I started crawling in the dark and looking for ways. But, alas, this stage begins with an escape to the roof, and there are the police, who refused to respond to the thrown object (I, of course, understand, there is a fire, everything is collapsing, etc.d., etc.n., but when you are looking for a dangerous criminal, and there is some noise in the corner, behind an obstacle, shouldn’t you check this place?? "No" — the police thought, and I started having problems), so they noticed me there, but I’ll try to re-pass it someday) (Then I try not to knock anyone out at all, I suddenly wanted to complicate things for myself, to get through even better :D)
But in the library everything went much better, I was so pleased with the result that I decided to record it on video. Twenty times. Because I was striving for the ideal, and then I watched a video on YouTube — I saw paths that I had no idea about at all, thereby changing my route somewhat (I didn’t see it anywhere, by the way), this practically didn’t speed it up, but watching what’s happening from behind the wall is more interesting than sitting in the closet and stupidly listening to everything)

(The video did not open in the editor, I am posting it as is)
Here, however, I hesitated a little at the end, you can do it faster, but this is extremely risky and allows you to finish the level 30-35 seconds earlier, no more. Then I also passed silently, but without recording, and for some reason I was given police clothing, which I received on the first pass, but refused it and re-passed without it. Moreover, when loaded into the library, Hitman appears in his clothes, and when loaded in the apartment of drug addicts — in a police uniform. Whether this made the game easier or more difficult — I don’t know, but I went through both an apartment and a train station with a crowd of people without attracting attention ^_^ I haven’t gone much further yet, in the process)

Well, I’ll probably move on https://k9wincasino.co.uk/bonus/ to "The Stanley Parable".

A good friend recommended it to me, I became interested. Bought at Steam, launched and… came out about five hours later. I won’t talk much about it, I’ll just say that I went through each of the paths, each of the corridors, went through each of the endings. I thought so… And then I went on the Internet. How wrong I was — I didn’t see probably half the endings that the game could offer me. And I started playing them all — according to the instructions: I climbed onto the windows, entered something in the command line, ran back and forth… But I didn’t see everything, one of the endings was prevented from seeing by a glitchy door, I looked it up on YouTube. But one of the most interesting things I found myself was a closet. And now I’ll show you why)

(The video did not open in the editor, I am posting it as is)

Amazing isn’t it?? What other game will give you such a feeling from spending five minutes in an unremarkable closet??) In this game, by the way, there is a wonderful achievement — “Click on door 430 five times.", T.e. you need to click on door number 430 five times. Yeah, of course. Probably the only achievement for which I ran through the corridors for about 5 minutes to get this achievement. Really cool done 😀

Well, we’ll probably continue. Next on the list —"FlatOut 2".

At some point in my life I started playing FlatOut 2. I played through it, had fun, made fun of it — in general, I enjoyed an amazing game. But at some point I had a desire to simply destroy enemies on the track, then this grew into a goal — to destroy all enemies during the race (and there are no less than seven of them). This was all a long time ago, so I don’t remember whether the conditions were that they should be destroyed by me and not someone else — but it’s unlikely that this was the case) And I did it! although in a slightly cheating way: I couldn’t catch everyone, so before the finish line I turned around and went to catch the remaining 1-2 drivers) But even the fact that the car survived such treatment and I still blew up everyone, and then reached the finish line is already an achievement. Even considering that I was on a fully upgraded Canyon =)

And this was achieved mainly thanks to the first turn, when, with the right actions, about half of the enemies were destroyed at once 🙂 I remembered this example because when I made unsuccessful actions at the first turn, I restarted the race, and my brother, who was watching this, said something like: "Yes, I understand, I want everything to be perfect from the very beginning":) Unfortunately, there is no recording or saves to repeat this and show — and with a zero machine after a long break from playing FO2, which is also not installed — I doubt that anything will work out now 🙂 I’ll try later, but not now)

Update: Installed Flat Out 2 — that jeep is not even accessible, not open yet 🙁 FlatOut Ultimate Carnage same bullshit. And the skill has been lost… So, unfortunately, no video here.

Next we have — "How to piss off your neighbor" And "How to Get Your Neighbor 2"

I remember these two games from my childhood, I completed both of them a long time ago (I think I completed them, it was a long time ago).

In 2006, “How to get your neighbor 3 — In the office” and several sequels were released (“How to get your neighbor on vacation”, “How to get your neighbor — from Russia with love” and others), but these games are not related to the series and were created by third-party developers from Russia.
Then I played the third part, the fourth… I was perplexed “What the fuck is going on here?? Why the hell would you change the engine?? How could they release THIS after two wonderful parts?», I found very little good out of all this, I only liked part of it "How to get a student", she was still interesting and funny. In general, with these parts of the neighbor it’s almost like with FlatOut 3 — a wonderful and delightful series merges into something, and the reason for this is one thing — here and there, the original developers are in no way involved in the development of these “sequels”. And if in a situation with F.OBugBear I just lost my rights to my series of games in connection with a bankrupt publisher, then it’s completely unclear — JoWooD Entertainment although it went bankrupt, it was only in 2011, and "How to Get Your Neighbor 3" came out in 2006… Here’s what it says Wikipedia: These are “third-party developers from Russia” who took it and started making sequels to the series, the rights to which they do not have (I don’t think they bought the rights to the series), and then started selling? I bought it myself licensed disks with StarForce protection (I think many people know this protection on licensed disks)

In general, I went a little off topic here, I’m coming back: Recently, both parts "How to piss off your neighbor" appeared in Steam, they have successfully passed Greenlight and now you can buy them (and you can buy them both at once). They got here thanks to Nordic Games GmbH, which has:

The portfolio primarily includes products and brands acquired from bankrupt JoWooD Entertainment and Dreamcatcher Interactive in 2011.

The appearance of the game on Steam could not go unnoticed for me — I succumbed to terrible nostalgia and began to replay. I decided, of course, to complete every level 100%. I walk through both parts in parallel — they are built according to slightly different rules. For example, in the first there are a lot of jokes that need to be made over and over again: all because the scene is a neighbor’s apartment, over time, more rooms simply open up there; In the second part, all (or almost all) jokes are unique, because here the action always takes place in different places — because the journey. Only the ship is almost the same, but it also has different jokes. Also in the second part there are three lives, instead of one (you can screw up a couple of times, in general. In the first part, one such error forced me to replay the entire level, but in the second part, if I get caught, I restart). But what’s a shame is that in the first part it is much more difficult to get the coveted 100% than in the second — the golden cup (this is the same as 100% in the first part, only a gold cup) In general, perfectionism here means completing each level 100%:

(my statistics for completing both parts, t.e. my screenshots)

Well, here’s one level that I just completed (although I chose those that I had already completed, so as not to be too stupid… Especially in the first part, sometimes you need to calculate in seconds where and what to put):

(in the editor only two videos were stitched together)

Next I’ll tell you about Half-Life 2: Deathmatch And Garry’s Mod.

This is a multiplayer game, so an interesting idea came up during the battle. There is a bomb with a laser tripwire (I probably named it wrong), I don’t remember the exact name. In general, they began to make a path out of them, in order to then blow everything up or simply watch the map, which was entirely pierced with laser beams) The difficulty is that the slightest mistake and attempt to place a bomb at the wrong angle could set off a chain reaction that would destroy everything that two people worked on (usually two people did this, I’m not the only one sitting there and gluing bombs :D) It was a long time ago, therefore the video is also old, and contains not only these lasers:

I always liked this idea, so we learned something in
Garry’s Mod:
